ASTM A524 Grade I, II Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe

Standard Specification for Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe for Atmospheric and Lower Temperatures

ASTM A524 Grade I and II Steel Pipe covers seamless carbon steel pipe intended primarily for service at atmospheric and lower temperatures,

Materials and Manufacture
Process:
1.The steel shall be killed steel made by one or more of the following processes: open-hearth, electric-furnace, or basic-oxygen.
2.The steel shall be made to fine grain practice.
3. Steel may be cast in ingots or may be strand cast.
4. ASTM A524 Grade I and II Steel Pipe NPS 1 1 ⁄ 2 and under may be either hot finished or cold drawn.
5. ASTM A524 Grade I and II Steel Pipe NPS 2 and over shall be furnished hot finished

Heat Treatment:
All hot-finished and cold-drawn ASTM A524 Grade I, II Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe will be reheated to a temperature above 1550 °F (845°C) and followed by cooling in air or in the cooling chamber of a controlled atmosphere furnace.
